Tory Betts Final Project

Executive Summary
Last summer, I interned at Woodside Homes of Northern California based in Sacramento. For a part of my summer project, I edited and updated more than 300 pricing contracts – all of which were built in Excel. These contracts put into writing the agreed upon price between Woodside, considered the general contractor, and the many different subcontractors that Woodside uses to build its homes. This VBA final project takes that same basic pricing contract and streamlines several important processes. The first is a sub procedure that takes the user-inputted subcontractor name and pulls applicable license number and license expiration date from the California Contractors State License Board website. The second is a sub procedure that appropriately sorts the user-inputted data into a form that can then be uploaded into the company’s data management software.
These contract upgrades will likely save five to ten minutes per contract write up. This may not seem especially significant. However, it should be noted that had this been available to me during my summer internship, I would have likely saved anywhere from 25 to 50 hours worth of work.
