Inventory and Sales Manager

VBA Final Project
Justin Mahoney
December, 2009

Executive Summary
This VBA application was designed as a basic information system for an author of children’s books. The author has currently published four books. Because she published the books herself she does not have the benefit of a publishing company to manage her inventory and sales or to find and manage venues where she can sell her books. She has therefore managed all of this herself and has encountered problems keeping track of inventory and sales which has been done largely with paper and pencil. Also, the author has numerous sales and promotional contacts with various organizations which she has been keeping track of on a piece of paper. The author needed a simple and user-friendly way to accurately keep track of her business information. The VBA application allows the user to perform four main tasks: add sales, generate a sales report, check inventory levels, and add and edit contacts. Data-validation is extremely important as the author is not very familiar with Excel and its functionality. Each of the four tasks has data validation controls that ensure that the user only enters accurate information. The Excel file and a full written description are below.
